“Hopscotch” is singer-songwriter Mars Mignon's breakout music video under the label UnderCurrent for his album Wherever.

The music video explores confronting the illusions of childish love and breaking free by facing yourself head-on to embrace inner power.

Set in a nostalgic, device-free outdoor world, MARShins—enigmatic beings representing aspects of the alter ego—become allies, not adversaries, in this transformative journey.

In conceptualizing the "Hopscotch" music video with Mars, our shared vision was to find beauty in apparent deterioration. The video is crafted to evoke a sense of homegrown authenticity, coupled with playfulness and humor—qualities that Mars has consistently shared with his 1.5M TikTok followers.

The making of the video involved a collaborative effort with our North Carolina-based cast and crew. I worked closely with the creative team to weave together Mars's creative insights about the meaning of the song lyrics with the visual concept. The goal was to craft a visually compelling narrative that captures the essence of self-discovery and empowerment within the context of a whimsical, yet grounded, storyline.
